Western Park (8-139) def. Yarragon (3-138): A stunning ninth-wicket stand between Kayne Badman and Josh Hickman has taken Western Park to a thrilling two-wicket win over Yarragon in the D-Grade T20 final, with the pair adding 21 runs in the dying overs to snatch a tight victory. In pursuit of Yarragon’s 3-138, the Warriors looked as though they would make amazingly short work of the chase in a turbo-charged 63-run opening stand between Briggs and Maher. The duo reached that number in just the 4th over of the innings, as Brigg (a 13-ball 32) and Maher (30 off 15) made the most of some loose bowling from Kurt Borsato and Norm Evans. Multiple blows rained over the mid-wicket and long-on fence as the pair left Yarragon shell-shocked. However, a staggering collapse of 4-8 soon turned the game on its head and the Warriors were in an instant struggling to score. Jake Borsato (4-17 from 4) turned the screws with the ball and claimed scalp after scalp, and at 8-118 the game looked lost. However, a top-edged six to Hickman (who finished unbeaten on 7) and a sweetly struck four down the ground from Badman sealed the win in the 19th over. Earlier in the day, Kurt Borsato (41), Brock Glover (33) and Norm Evans (28*) were productive with the bat as Yarragon posted 3-138.
